Milan is preparing to host Neutrino2024, the XXXI edition of the International Conference on Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics, organized by the University of Milano-Bicocca, the University of Milan, and the INFN. The INFN is a crucial partner in the realization of Neutrino2024, contributing both scientifically and organizationally. The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Milan, the Lombardy Region, and the Italian Physical Society. Neutrino2024 is held every two years and represents the most prestigious global event in the field of Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics. From June 16 to 22, 2024, the conference will gather at the University of Milano-Bicocca Nobel laureates (Arthur McDonald, Takaaki Kajita, Carlo Rubbia), world-renowned scientists, and young researchers to discuss the latest discoveries in neutrino physics. Neutrino2024 will not only facilitate scientific exchange among participants in the field but will also include three outreach events open to the public, aiming to engage audiences of all ages and spread the passion for neutrino physics.
Public Event: “Those Enigmatic Little Neutrinos”
On Wednesday, June 19 at 6:30 PM, in the Aula Magna of the University of Milano-Bicocca, three internationally renowned physicists, Silvia Pascoli, Elisa Resconi, and Guido Tonelli, will discuss with Giuliana Galati the past, present, and future of neutrino research. Whether you know nothing about it or are an expert, don't miss this event! The event is free and open to the public with prior registration (maximum 600 participants) and will be in Italian.
Seminar for Students: “The Genesis of the Neutrino Concept”
Discussing how current theoretical frameworks were developed
On Wednesday, June 19 at 3:00 PM, in the Aula Martini of the University of Milano-Bicocca, Francesco Vissani, a renowned neutrino physics researcher, will take us on a six-stage journey through the history of neutrinos, from their initial theoretical hypothesis to experimental measurements. The event is free, open to the public, primarily aimed at university students, and will be in English.
Activity for kids: “Amazing Women in Physics!”
A game to discover the history of the female scientists who shaped modern physics.
On Saturday, June 22 at 3:00 PM, in the rooms of the University of Milano-Bicocca Library, together with Ilaria Canobbio and Cecilia Osera, we will play a memory game to discover the history of the female scientists who revolutionized research in physics and beyond over the centuries. The event is free, aimed at children aged 6 to 11 (with prior registration: maximum 30 children), and will be in Italian.
Don't miss the opportunity to participate in these unique and engaging events.
